Saffron Walden Town Council is delighted to have been awarded Quality Gold Status as part of the prestigious Local Council Award Scheme, an award issued by the National Association of Local Councils (NALC).

NALC explains: “The Quality Gold Award demonstrates a council is at the forefront of best practice and achieves excellence in governance, community leadership and council development. Quality Gold councils provide leadership for their communities, bring people together, have excellent business planning processes, ensuring value for money as well as constantly seek new innovations and opportunities to improve. They highlight the very best we, as a sector, can achieve for our communities.”

Only 46 local councils in England are accredited with the Quality Gold Status, with only 6 of these being in Essex!

Cllr Mike Eldred from Essex Association of Local Councils presented the Quality Gold certificate to SWTC on Monday evening, as pictured with the Mayor Cllr Asker, Town Clerk Lisa Courtney with officers and councillors.

Said a SWTC spokesperson “We are absolutely thrilled and delighted SWTC has achieved Quality Gold status, whilst the award is focused on a review of practices, it is also a review and acknowledgement of the hard work across the council service and the quality gold status is evidence of our dedicated team efforts”
