Elections

To link to the Electoral Registration Department at Uttlesford District Council click here.  This will enable you to obtain further information regarding elections taking place in 2024, how to register to vote etc. Elections will take places this year – on 2 May Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex elections will take place.  A general election will also be called this year.

Remember! you will need photo id to vote in person at a polling station.

  • All documents are available directly from the District Council website www.uttlesford.gov.uk/elections
  • Uttlesford District Council briefings  for candidates and information registering to can be found at https://www.uttlesford.gov.uk/local-elections-2023.
  • Nomination packs will be available on the District Council website and must be completed and returned to the returning officer at Uttlesford District Council – not SWTC. Nomination forms must be submitted by 4pm Tuesday 4 April 2023.

Who can vote in local council elections?

To vote in any election you need to be registered to vote. To get on the electoral register contact the electoral services at Uttlesford District Council or visit www.aboutmyvote.co.uk to download a registration form. You can register to vote when you are aged 16 years or over but you need to be 18 or over to vote. To vote in a local council election you need to be a British citizen, Irish citizen, European Union citizen or citizen of a Commonwealth country (including Cyprus and Malta).
