Essex County Council Review Net Zero and Climate Action

Saffron Walden Town Council has written in opposition to Essex County Council’s decision to remove their Net Zero and Climate Action policies.

Essex County Council’s recent report acknowledged “by taking this decision, there is a risk that ECC may reduce active travel planning with schools, which promotes safe walking, cycling, and wheeling”

SWTC is dismayed by this decision, acknowledging the impact it will have on current residents and future generations.

SWTC has requested reversal of the decision and if the decision stands to provide written clarity as to how Essex Highways will support delivery of sustainable transport measures.
