Saffron Walden Town Council’s joint venture with UCAN and Enterprise East, the Jubilee Hub in Saffron Walden is a place to connect, share, learn and grow.
Jubilee Hub is located at 3 Hill Street, Saffron Walden, CB10 1EH.
Be part of our community
The Jubilee Hub is a community centre with a focus on family, children and young people, and community. The partnership brings together the experience, insight and expertise of the three community focused organisations to deliver a programme of inclusive activities. The initial schedule was launched on Monday 17th April 2023, and will be regularly updated once we conclude a more in-depth consultation with the community. These initial activities are the ones requested by residents at our pop-up sessions in the build-up to the soft launch.

Success stories for Jubilee Hub and Saffron Walden residents
Community Fridge is open 9.30am – 4pm Monday – Friday’s and situated in the foyer at Jubilee Hub. SWTC was recently successful in securing Food Support grant funding from Essex County Council (ECC). The funding support which started in January during the coldest and hardest weeks of the year, has helped to support regular supplies of fresh items. This week’s deliveries include fresh items such as fruit and vegetables and will be available throughout the week. No appointment is necessary, just pop in. Said two Community Fridge users, “The grapes are so tasty, they’re crunchy and so fresh. My kids have gone crazy over them” and “I went and got some lovely carrots and potatoes – great quality too”. A SWTC spokesperson added, “It is wonderful that residents are making good use of this food, by adding some fresh vegetables for example to the family’s evening meal”.

Whilst UCAN and EE are SWTC’s primary partners, the aim is to work with all community support agencies and groups across Saffron Walden to enhance and improve the quality of life for its residents. For information about the use of the Hub by community groups / charities during daytime hours, email events@saffronwalden.gov.uk and these will be duly considered alongside the activity programme provided.
For private hire bookings during weekday evenings and at weekends, email bookings@saffronwalden.gov.uk
Community Fridge
The community fridge (managed by UCAN) located in the lobby, is stocked daily with fresh fruit and vegetables donated by local food outlets, along with still good to eat items like bread, cakes and drinks; it’s primary focus is on food waste rather than food poverty and is available for everyone’s use – no appointment is necessary. It operates whilst Jubilee Hub is open – weekdays only, between 9.30am – 4pm.
Making good use of this food, is not only a great way to supplement what the Uttlesford Foodbank offer for residents, but it also reduces food wastage in our town.
If your Saffron Walden food / hospitality business would like to be involved with this worthwhile enterprise, collection arrangements can be made at the end of the day on either an ad hoc basis or as a regular arrangement. Please email connect@ucan.org.uk to register your interest.
