Saffron Walden Christmas Events 2026
Saffron Walden Town Council (SWTC) is getting into the festive spirit, with preparations well underway for this year’s Christmas celebrations! Throughout November and December, SWTC will be spreading festive cheer and helping the community get into the Christmas mood with a host of seasonal events and activities.
November
Light Switch On: The fun starts with the ‘Light Switch On’ event on Friday 20 November. Food and entertainment will be taking place in the Market Square during the afternoon into the evening. More information to follow in the coming weeks.
Lantern Making Workshops: The popular annual FREE lantern making workshops take place on Friday 27 and Saturday 28 November. Families are welcome to join in with the fun at Jubilee Hub, CB10 1EH – no booking required, just drop in.
December
Walden Christmas Fayre and Lantern Parade: SWTC is delighted to announce an exciting Christmas collaboration in Saffron Walden on Friday 04 December, in partnership with the Saffron Walden Initiative.
Bringing together a wealth of event management experience and a shared passion for the community, both teams are working together to create a festive celebration for everyone to enjoy. Plans are taking shape for a wonderful event featuring a lantern parade, community and charity stalls, Christmas carols, food, entertainment and of course, a generous helping of Christmas spirit!
There’s plenty more to come, so keep an eye out for further announcements in the coming weeks. We can’t wait to share more with you – watch this space for a little Christmas magic! Indoor Christmas Markets: The first of SWTC’s Indoor Christmas Markets takes place on Friday 20 and Saturday 21 November in The Town Hall (CB10 1HR) with a range of stalls, a perfect chance to start your Christmas Shopping! An additional market will be held over the weekend of Friday 04 Saturday 05 December.
Santa’s Grotto: SWTC is again hosting its Grotto for families to enjoy, just £2.00 per child – no booking required, just turn up! – on Friday 04 and Sunday 06 December in the Town Hall.
