As Saffron Walden’s Town Crier, I am delighted to offer (loudly) my wholehearted support for Saffron Walden Town Council’s expression of interest in the Town of Culture programme. The role of Town Crier is rooted in centuries of tradition, celebrating and amplifying the voice, heritage and identity of our town. I see this bid as a wonderful opportunity to honour that history while bringing our community together through a vibrant and inclusive cultural programme. I would be proud to play an active part in promoting events, engaging residents and visitors alike, and helping to create memorable moments that showcase the unique character of Saffron Walden, leaving a lasting legacy for generations to come.
