Saffron Walden Town Council

Structural and systemic racism

At its Full Council meeting on Monday 13th July 2020, Saffron Walden Town Council considered a motion presented by Cllr Trilby Roberts to condemn structural and systemic racism in our society.

There is, and never has been, a place for racism in any environment be it in the work place, at school, in our local or wider communities, on a national or international level. Since the unlawful killing of George Floyd by the Minneapolis police on 25 May 2020, we have seen an international movement to eliminate racism in all its forms. We must act, and we must act now. The Town Council is taking positive steps to deliver on the commitments within the resolution.
