Town Council Reminds Residents: Public Litter Bins Are for Litter Only

Saffron Walden Town Council is reminding residents and businesses that the public litter bins located throughout the town are provided for small items of litter only. They are not intended for the disposal of household, commercial or domestic waste.

In recent weeks, Council staff have found public bins filled with items such as household rubbish bags, Amazon packaging, and other large quantities of waste. This misuse quickly fills the bins, leaving no room for genuine litter and creating an untidy environment for everyone.

Residents and businesses are asked to dispose of their waste responsibly using their own household or commercial waste collections and recycling services.

The Town Council is monitoring the situation closely. If this misuse continues, further action will be taken against those found to be using public litter bins incorrectly.

By using the bins as intended, everyone can help keep Saffron Walden clean, welcoming and enjoyable for residents and visitors alike.
