Saffron Walden Tourist Information Centre (TIC) has announced the service will relocate to the Town Hall.  This change offers the opportunity for the TIC to continue providing a much-needed and well-used community service, whilst also recognising income for the Town Council in leasing No 1 Market Place.

The decision has been made following a cost-efficiency review by the Town Council.  Residents and visitors will know the TIC has been located at 1 Market Place for over 35 years, acting as the primary destination for advice on local amenities and services, supporting residents and visitors alike.  The service has grown over the years, with the introduction of a successful and varied retail offering, an online shop and box office for local venues.

Said a spokesperson “In 2008 the TIC service was transferred to the Town Council (from Uttlesford District Council) and since this time, the TIC service has become the ‘go to destination’ for everything about Saffron Walden.  The move to the Town Hall allows the service to continue to flourish, providing customers with much-needed step free access.”

In the coming weeks No1 Market Place will be advertised to let, providing a retail opportunity for businesses. Once a tenant is agreed a relocation date for the TIC will be announced.  Meanwhile, the TIC service will continue to operate as normal from its existing location.
