Extension Notice


The Essex County Council (Various Roads, Saffron Walden) (Temporary 20MPH Speed limit) Order 2020

Notice is hereby given that the above order made by Essex County Council under s14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, has been continued in force for an additional 6 months with the consent of the Secretary of State for the Department for Transport until 27 July 2022.

Effect of the order: To Introduce a 20mph Speed Limit on the following lengths of road in the District of Uttlesford. The roads below had a temporary 20mph speed applied as part of the initial response to the Covid-19 pandemic, to promote active travel and encourage sustainable forms of transport. The current temporary 20mph Speed Limit Order will now expire on 27 July 2022 at which time without a permanent Order being made the road will revert to the previous status of restricted road by virtue of street lighting.

B184 High Street           From its junction with Gold Street northwards to a point approximately 5 metres south of its junction with Castle Street

B184 East Street            From its junction with Hill Street eastwards for 25 metres

Fairycroft Road              From its junction with East Street southwards for 7 metres

Cross Street                  From its junction with B184 Hill Street to its junction with Market Row

And the entire length of the following roads:

Butcher Row, Church Street, Common Hill, Emson Close, George Street, Hill Street, King Street, Market Hill, Market Place, Market Row, Market Street
