English Tourism week is an annual celebration of the tourism industry, showcasing its importance to local communities and economies. The theme this year is ‘Supporting people and places to drive growth.’
SWTC and the team at the TIC will be helping to highlight the importance of local tourism and the visitor economy. They will have information available and free freshly baked Saffron Buns (whilst stocks last)! There will be the opportunity to chat with; Hello Food Tours, Saffron Walden Library, Saffron Walden Museum, Saffron Walden TIC and the Saffron Walden market traders! And not to be missed; you can join in with an introduction to The Town Hall, starting at 2.30pm – meet in front of The Town Hall!
A Blue Badge guided tour of Saffron Walden will take place on Thursday 20 March at 11am – places are limited; book your place at the TIC in person or by calling 01799 524002. Free Saffron Bun with each ticket!

- Kickstart the spring/summer season and give businesses and destinations a marketing hook to engage with customers and encourage bookings.
- Give businesses an opportunity to engage with local stakeholders such as MPs and media, to bring attention to tourism’s contribution in their area.
- Increase awareness among domestic visitors of the quality and variety of the English tourism offer and encourage domestic travel.
