Successful third Bandstand performance celebrates Brass Band Week
Saffron Walden Town Council (SWTC) was delighted to welcome another fantastic turnout for the third bandstand season performance last Saturday.
As part of Brass Band Week, visitors and residents were treated to performances from two talented brass bands, creating a wonderful atmosphere at the bandstand. Starting off with CSD Brass, who played a mix of popular favourites – tunes from film, TV, folk, opera and elsewhere! Musical Director Chris Lawrence said, “we were delighted to be performing again in the beautiful market town of Saffron Walden as part of the programme for Brass Band Week.” Then a performance from Epping Forest Band, with an uplifting programme of familiar favourites, from popular melodies to summer classics. Musical Director Keith Schroeter said, “we have had a busy and successful year so far – the band has been promoted to the Second Section, qualifying for the National Brass Band Finals, which takes place in York this September”. This Saturday, 11 July, to close Brass Band Week, starting at 11am, we can look forward to local brass band, Hadstock Silver Band performing a mix of traditional brass band music, including marches, overtures and covers of tunes from musicals and films. They’re looking forward to playing their 4th Bandstand Season! Then afterwards, at 1.30pm, Bishop’s Stortford Band will be playing light brass from film, TV and entertainment.
The Bandstand Sessions will continue throughout the summer every Saturday until 05 September, bringing a range of local musicians and performers to the heart of the town.
