Students Have Their Say

SAFFRON WALDEN COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS had their say!

Saffron Walden Town Council (SWTC) Officers met with the Student Leadership Committee at Saffron Walden County High School (SWCHS) last Wednesday 25 February; the purpose of the visit was to introduce Saffron Walden’s YOUTH CONSULTATION 2026 to the school – and to open the dialogue on the Town’s bid for Town of Culture 2028.

SWTC and Saffron Walden Youth Outreach Project’s (YOP) are asking 10-19 year olds to “have their say” by completing the survey. The survey can be found here: https://forms.gle/fKTs22JHBpyHcFkg6

Said Colette Kerr, SWTC’s Events & Activities Officer, “I am delighted with the way the students interacted with us and we were made to feel most welcome. They were enthusiastic and asked lots of questions; and it was a great to receive their thoughts and ideas. The input was valuable to the consultation and the data gathered will help shape where youth funds are spent in 2026-27. I hope they all continue to spread the word with friends and family.”

Student Voice Lead, Amy Popple added, “SWCHS Student Voice are invested in working with staff and governors and meet regularly to discuss issues and develop ideas for the school’s future. It was really exciting to come together and think about young people’s needs in the local community and they are big on ideas!”
The youth consultation will remain open until 5pm on Monday 16 March 2026.

It only takes 5 minutes to complete and you can also be in with a chance to win a £30.00 voucher from a Saffron Walden retailer of your choice! Paper copies are available at The Tourist Information Centre for under 13’s (if completed outside of school) – parental consent is required.
