Road Closures for Freedom Parade
Saffron Walden Town Council (SWTC) would like to inform residents and businesses that several roads will be closed in and around Saffron Walden town centre for the Freedom of Uttlesford Parade. The parade to be held on Sunday 26 July, allows 33 Engineer Regiment (EOD&S), based at Carver Barracks, Wimbish, to exercise their right, honour, privilege and distinction of marching through the streets of the district of Uttlesford.
The following roads will be closed from 6am until 2pm on Sunday 26 July 2026: Chaters Hill, Market Place, Market Hill, Market Street, Butcher Row, Cross Street, Market Row, King Street.
Rolling road closures will be in place from 10am until 1pm on Common Hill, Ashdon Road (between Chaters Hill & Common Hill), Church Street, Museum Street, High Street (between Church Street and George Street), George Street, Cates Corner, Hill Street.
The Town Council and its partners would like to thank residents and businesses for their cooperation and support of these road closures and looks forward to joining residents in a respectful parade starting in Chaters Hill at 11.00 and ending in the Market Square.
