Midsummer Poetry Walk – Saturday 21 June 2025!

Following the success of ‘Shakespeare Sonnet Walk’ in April 2024, Saffron Walden Town Council (SWTC) is delighted to offer another self-guided walk around the beautiful town of Saffron Walden, this time on midsummer’s day. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Join this ‘Midsummer Day Dream’ on Saturday 21 June; be entertained by the finest that midsummer and Saffron Walden and its dramatist personae can offer: a poetry walk through the gardens, mazes and thoroughfares at your leisure. Said Cllr Alex Reeve, “This is a charming way to enjoy Saffron Walden in the sunshine. Ripples of heat mist play across smooth lawns and stone-flagged footpaths. Nature sports its lightest summer garb then takes its hat off to you. The air is dreamy, lulling but there is a faint melodic voice drifting across. One here, in the shade of a laurel bush, another there in the long grass hidden by roses. The voices belong to actors and poets. Psst, they lie in wait to entertain you”.

Said a SWTC spokesperson, “SWTC is delighted to be offering this event – if you are an actor and would like to play a talking laurel bush, please get in touch at the email below”.
