Saffron Walden Town Council (SWTC) is pleased to be working in collaboration with Lord Butler Fitness and Leisure Centre (LBFLC) to increase awareness and raise charity funds for the Mayor’s charities for World Mental Health Day on Thursday 10 October 2024.  The day’s events will also highlight how you can improve your mental well-being through exercise.  Said a LBFLC General Manager, Alan Carter, “The Lord Butler Fitness and Leisure Centre are delighted to be working alongside Saffron Walden Town Council to help raise funds for the Mayor’s chosen charities (Mind in West Essex and Saffron Walden Citizen’s Advice) on World Mental Health Day, by running some activities throughout the day. Research has shown the important link between exercise and improving mental health – by reducing anxiety, depression, and negative mood and by improving  self-esteem.”

Said a Mind in West Essex Chief Executive Office, Alison Wilson, “Mind in West Essex are looking forward to being at the Lord Butler Leisure Centre for World Mental Health Day.  The focus this year is workplace wellbeing. 35% of Britons say they have had to take time off work due to stress over the past year.  We are aiming to reflect on this number by rowing 35km during the day, so please come along and row a few metres with us and find out more about how we can all take small steps to reduce the impact of stress on our health.”
