Magical Sleeping Beauty Event delights families in Saffron Walden Market Square

Families enjoyed a magical day of fun and entertainment in Saffron Walden Market Square last Thursday, as Saffron Walden Town Council (SWTC) hosted a special Sleeping Beauty-themed family event.

The free event brought a touch of fairy-tale magic to the town centre, with hundreds of children enjoying a range of activities and the chance to meet some very special guests from Saffron Hall’s upcoming pantomime.

A particular highlight for many children was meeting Queen Falicia and Princess Aurora. The royal visitors were a huge hit, with plenty of excited young fans eager to meet the characters and have their photos taken.

There was also plenty more family entertainment on offer, including fun activities with Party Factory’s Silly Sasha, adventures aboard Buffy Playbus, and a creative session with Saffron Walden Museum, where children could make their very own lollipop fairies!

A spokesperson for SWTC said: “It was wonderful to see the Market Square filled with families enjoying our Sleeping Beauty-themed event. We would like to thank everyone who helped make the event such a success, including Saffron Hall, Party Factory, Buffy Playbus and Saffron Walden Museum. We hope everyone who joined us had a magical time!”

The event was organised as part of SWTC’s programme of family-friendly activities and events in the town.  The additional footfal throughout the day also increases sales for many local businesses. Richard Corby, Tourist Information Centre Manager said, “this is a great time for town centre businesses to embrace opportunities such as this – and use it as a springboard to promote what is unique about their business”.
