Saffron Walden Town Council (SWTC) reminds residents of the fresh food items available at Jubilee Hub’s Community Fridge. SWTC was recently successful in securing Food Support grant funding from Essex County Council (ECC).
This week’s deliveries include fresh items such as fruit and vegetables and will be available throughout the week. No appointment is necessary, just pop in. The fridge is located in the foyer at Jubilee Hub, 3 Hill Street, CB10 1EH; and is open weekdays only, between 9.30am – 4pm.
The funding will support the service for 10 weeks during the coldest and hardest weeks of the year, for many. Local food / hospitality business can support the service too, by donating food items at the end of the day on either an ad hoc basis or as a regular arrangement. Please email connect@ucan.org.uk to register your interest.
Said two Community Fridge users, “The grapes are so tasty, they’re crunchy and so fresh. My kids have gone crazy over them” and “I went and got some lovely carrots and potatoes – great quality too”. A SWTC spokesperson added, “It is wonderful that residents are making good use of this food, by adding some fresh vegetables for example to the family’s evening meal”.
