ITV News visits Saffron Walden Bandstand Season
Saffron Walden Town Council (SWTC) was delighted to welcome another fantastic turnout for the fourth bandstand season performance last Saturday. To end Brass Band Week, visitors and residents were treated to performances from two local brass bands. The morning kicked off with local brass band, Hadstock Silver Band who performed a mix of traditional brass band music, including marches and covers of tunes from musicals, films and pop songs.
Just prior to the performance, ITV News’ Hannah Pettiver interviewed Di Pannell, Hadstock Silver Band’s Musical Director and Tourist Information Centre Manager, Richard Corby – it was broadcast on Saturday’s 7pm ITV News Anglia (East). Said Di Pannell, “we were delighted to be back in Saffron Walden for the 4th year of the Bandstand Season and enjoyed entertaining residents and visitors.”

Musical Director, Stuart Dodgeson said, “we enjoyed our afternoon in Saffron Walden, so much so that some stayed into the evening!”
This Saturday, 18 July, back to the standard time of 12 noon, we can look forward to local U3A, featuring two of Saffron Walden u3a’s 40 interest groups; Saffron Harmony Choir and SWUKES Ukulele Band.
Bandstand Season will continue throughout the summer every Saturday until 05 September, bringing a range of local musicians and performers to the heart of the town. Jubilee Hub is open between 12 noon – 2pm for refreshments served by Uttlesford Community Action Network (UCAN) volunteers.
