Uttlesford District Council is busy preparing for the elections next May.

Ahead of these elections they will be holding a Candidates and Agents briefing – same briefing on 2 dates and you are encouraged to attend one of these if you wish to stand as a candidate.  This is most pertinent to those who are likely to be in an area that is going to be contested.

The details of the times, dates and the links will appear on UDC’s web page shortly, but details are also at the end of this email Local elections 2023 – Uttlesford District Council – further information and the nomination packs will appear on their website. There will be some generic documents on the website for both polls – District and Parish and some documents specifically at the Parish or District such as the Nomination Pack.

Anyone who wishes to stand (whether they are current sitting Councillors or new) MUST complete and submit by hand a nomination paper and subsequently submit an expenses form, regardless whether the parish is contested or not or they incurred any cost or not!

More information is now appearing on UDC’s webpages about the requirement for ALL voters to show suitable photo ID at a polling station before being allowed to vote.  The Electoral Commission’s national publicity campaign started on 9 January – please help us cascade this message about the polls and the change in how you vote.
