From Folk & Art last Saturday to a Brass Band double billing this Saturday!

Saffron Walden Town Council’s Bandstand Season continued with contemporary folk duo Clark & Johnson who provided an eclectic mix of light folk/pop/rock, arranged for guitar/bouzouki and gorgeous vocals.  They are seasoned amateur acoustic performers on the Herts/Cambs/Essex circuit and enjoy performing in bandstands, market squares, pubs, and gardens.  They were joined by Saffron Walden Art Society who provided a pop up art exhibition alongside them – a wonderful cultural mix of music meets art!

Sponsored by Pottrill Holland Property Agents, the season runs weekly on Saturdays between 12 noon and 2pm (unless stated otherwise) until 05 September from the bandstand in Jubilee Garden, providing FREE live music from a range of local musicians and performers.  Just drop in, get comfortable and enjoy the music!

Jubilee Hub will be open throughout the Bandstand Season with Uttlesford Community Action Network (UCAN) volunteers serving refreshments.  All funds raised will support the vital work they do for reducing loneliness and isolation within the community.

This week sees not one, but two brass bands for the start of Brass Band Week. At the earlier time of 11am, CSD Brass will commence with popular favourites including tunes from film, television, folk, opera and elsewhere! Said the band’s Musical Director Chris Lawrence, “we are delighted to be performing again in the beautiful market town of Saffron Walden as part of the programme for Brass Band Week. It is always fantastic when town councils support community music making and we hope to entertain visitors and residents alike with our performance.”

At 1.30pm, Epping Forest Band will fill the seats on the bandstand under the baton of Musical Director, Keith Schroeter. He said, “we are delighted to return to Saffron Walden Bandstand for an uplifting programme packed full of popular melodies, toe tapping favourites and summer classics – this family-friendly event promises entertainment for all ages. Having thoroughly enjoyed performing here last year, we are excited to be back and look forward to another fantastic afternoon of music”.
