Many, many excited children at FREE Emergency Services event!

Saffron Walden Town Council (SWTC) is delighted with the number of families who enjoyed the FREE Family activities in the Market Square last Wednesday.  Over 500 children and their families attended the last SWTC event for the summer holidays.  Emergency services partners included: Essex County Fire & Rescue Service, Uttlesford Neighbourhood Policing and Saffron Walden Community First Responders.  Said a SWTC spokesperson, “thank you to all everyone involved; the success of the event illustrates the strength in collaborative partnerships.”

Excited children were given the go-ahead to climb aboard the emergency vehicles, get dressed up in police safety gear and practice CPR!  Free face painting, storytelling and colouring along with the Essex Mobile Library bus were also part of the fun activities!  Information and advice was also available from Essex & Kent Police Fraud prevention, Neighbourhood Watch, Community Pastors, Essex Fire Water Safety and Uttlesford District Council (UDC) Community Safety & Anti-Social Behaviour teams.

Said Tri-Service Rural Community Officer, Andrea Adams, “it was a great day, thank you for having us.  A SWTC spokesperson added, we were delighted too that retired fire fighter, Paul Starte attended with his Vintage 1971 Land Rover Fire Engine!”

A Neighbourhood Policing spokesperson added, “Officers from the neighbourhood policing team were on hand to talk about local policing and crime prevention, offering advice and tips on staying safe, and recruitment information too.”

Mark Webb, Saffron Walden CFR Coordinator added, “Thank you for letting us showcase our work; we attend on average 30 calls per month in and around Saffron Walden and its villages, with calls ranging from Difficulty in Breathing to Cardiac Arrests and everything in between.”
