Last Sunday Saffron Walden Town Council welcomed The Kent Police Band to The Bandstand, for a free concert.  On their journey back to Kent after a weekend playing at Beamish Open Air Museum, the brass band stopped in Saffron Walden providing residents and visitors with a delightful program including brass band classic and show tunes. The Kent Police Band also welcomed a guest player on 2nd horn, SWTC’s very own events and activities officer, Colette Kerr, who took the lead in organising the wonderful afternoon.

Tea and homemade cakes were served from Jubilee Hub and provided by Uttlesford Community Action Network (UCAN) volunteers.  Donations of £186.50 were received; this will go towards purchasing an information screen for the hub.

Said a SWTC spokesperson, “many thanks to The Kent Police Band for an entertaining and polished performance – and to UCAN for their volunteers and delicious cakes”

The band’s Musical Director, John Groves, added, “Thank you for having us!  The acoustics of the bandstand and within Jubilee Garden are wonderful – it was an absolute pleasure to be in Saffron Walden”

Bandstand Season 2024 starts next month – for more information email events@saffronwalden.gov.uk or in person at the Tourist Information Centre.
