Saffron Walden Town Council (SWTC) is hosting an event on Tuesday 18 March for English Tourism week. Named as The Times ‘best place to live in the east’!, Saffron Walden has so much to offer, to residents and visitors alike. English Tourism week is an annual celebration of the tourism industry, showcasing its importance to local communities and economies. The theme this year is ‘Supporting people and places to drive growth.’
Celebrating local tourism and to promote the importance of the visitor economy in Saffron Walden, SWTC and the team at Saffron Walden Tourist Information Centre (TIC) will be highlighting the importance of local tourism during English Tourism Week and kickstarting the new season. Together they will be hosting a double stall in the Market between 10am and 3pm and will have information available and the chance of trying freshly baked Saffron Buns (whilst stocks last)! There will be the opportunity to chat with; Hello Food Tours, Saffron Walden Library, Saffron Walden Museum, Saffron Walden TIC, market traders and more! And you can join in with an introduction to The Town Hall, starting at 2.30pm; meet in front of The Town Hall!
A coach party from Peterborough are heading to “one of Essex’s most delightful medieval towns on market day”! Hearing what brings them to Saffron Walden on Market Day will highlight both the value of domestic visitors, and the quality and variety of the Saffron Walden tourism offer. Said a TIC spokesperson, “Saffron Walden itself has a particularly impressive tourism offer, with Bridge End Garden, the Market, the Museum, the (seasonal) Fry Art Gallery, St Mary’s Church, Saffron Hall and Saffron Screen all of great economic and cultural benefit to the town.”
During this week, there is a Blue Badge guided tour of Saffron Walden scheduled for Thursday 20 March at 11am – places are limited, and booking is essential via the TIC in person or by calling 01799 524002. Free Saffron Bun with each ticket!
