Clean Air Day – 18 June
Did you know Thursday 18 June is National Clean Air Day?
Action for Clean Air cites that: Air pollution is linked to a range of health problems throughout our lives including premature birth, childhood asthma, heart and lung disease, diabetes and strokes. Reducing levels of harmful air pollution in our communities will have health benefits for us all, now and in the future. Cleaning up dirty air will not only improve everyone’s health, but it can also boost our local economies and protect our natural environments.
At Saffron Walden Town Council, we are turning to electric vans, mowers and machinery in order to reduce the air pollution in our open spaces. Locally, residents and visitors might think about walking or cycling to work, utilising the ‘Pedal Perks’ scheme administered by Uttlesford District Council https://www.uttlesford.gov.uk/article/9377/Pedal-Perks
