Bandstand Season 2025 continues with the start of Brass Band Week! Change of time this week 11am – 1pm
Saffron Walden Town Council’s (SWTC) ‘Bandstand Season’ continued on Saturday with Contemporary folk duo, Clark & Johnson. They provided an eclectic mix of light folk / pop / rock. The duo shared the space with pop-up art from Saffron Walden Arts Society. Said Karen Johnson, “we are seasoned amateur acoustic performers on the Herts / Cambs / Essex circuit – and regularly perform in bandstands, market squares, pubs, and gardens”.
This coming Saturday 05 July welcomes the first band to perform for Brass Band Week with Epping Forest Band taking to the bandstand. They have been working on a specially curated ‘kids entertainment’ programme. Said a band spokesperson, “This is the first year playing at Saffron Walden’s Bandstand Season and we are very much looking forward to it. We are delighted to jump aboard the carnival theme of ‘Kids Entertainment’ and have a fun-filled, family-friendly programme of kids tv and film scores – ‘name that tune’ for kids and big kids alike!”. A SWTC spokesperson added, “There is no need to book, just bring a chair or blanket, enjoy the music and warm up your inner ‘kid’ in readiness for the Carnival Procession!”
- Please note the change of time – for this week ONLY; 11am – 1pm, due to the Carnival Procession at 2pm
Sponsored by Arkwright & Co, De Rosa Music Academy and Uttlesford District Council, the season runs weekly on Saturdays until 06 September from the bandstand in Jubilee Garden, CB10 1EH – and is FREE to attend.
Jubilee Hub will be open throughout the Bandstand Season with Uttlesford Community Action Network (UCAN) volunteers serving tea, coffee and biscuits. All funds raised will support the Mayor’s charity, UCAN and the vital work they do of reducing loneliness and isolation within the community.
