Saffron Walden’s Bandstand Season’s last performance for 2026
Saffron Walden Town Council’s (SWTC) ‘Bandstand Season’ saw its final performance for 2026 last Saturday. Harlow Concert Band closed the season with a wonderful performance of well-known classical pieces and light popular music, with Musical Director Mike Pearce and the band providing lots of toe tapping opportunities! If you would like to hear more, their next concert is an afternoon Autumn Concert of ‘special requests’ on Sunday 22nd November at Tye Green Community Centre, Harlow CM18 6LU. A band spokesperson said, “Harlow Concert Band was delighted to close Saffron Walden’s Bandstand Season; we had a lovely afternoon playing to a very receptive audience, thank you so much for having us! The season opened on 20 June with Saffron Walden Town Band and entertained for twelve weeks every Saturday between 12 noon and 2pm, with a selection of music genres from pop / rock to folk and brass bands to contemporary choirs. A special thank you to sponsors Pottrill Holland and Uttlesford District Council who have supported this event. A SWTC spokesperson said, “the addition sponsorship support meant FREE musical enjoyment was available for all – the feedback from the community has been positive and we hope to be back next summer!” Oliver Pottrill added, “Pottrill Holland was delighted to support our local community and work with SWTC for this years’ Bandstand Season. We already look forward to next year!” A UDC’s spokesperson added, “we are delighted UDC’s One-off Community grant supported the arts and made music accessible to all in Saffron Walden over the summer months”.
Jubilee Hub has been open throughout the Bandstand Season with Uttlesford Community Action Network (UCAN) volunteers serving tea, coffee and biscuits. Said a UCAN spokesperson, “UCAN was delighted to support this years’ Bandstand Season with the help of our local Volunteers. Our Volunteers are so critical to so many projects and events we are involved in and bring the added value element to us as a charity and the community as a whole”.
