Saffron Walden Town Council remains deeply concerned and worried about the hardness of water in our town. Residents may recall that Affinity Water removed the water softening processing plant in SW some months ago as it came to the end of its life. Following lobbying from this Town Council and a great number of residents, Affinity Water agreed to replace the water softening unit. It is taking time to install any new replacement as it requires design and installation approval from OFWAT and other industry bodies; Affinity offers assurances they are working closely with the regulatory bodies to reinstate a softening plant in Saffron Walden.
We have seen and heard some terrible stories of machines, showers and appliances becoming clogged up with limescale and the Town Council has therefore continued to lobby and press Affinity Water for a specific update on the water situation. Affinity have agreed to attend a future Town Council meeting to provide an update on the current situation and representatives from Affinity Water will be attending the Town Council’s Assets & Services Committee meeting on Monday 27th February 2023, starting at 7.30pm. The meeting will be held at the Garden Rooms, Jubilee Gardens – this is a public meeting and please feel free to come along.
