We have moved!

Saffron Walden Town Council has moved offices.  We are now temporarily located in the Town Hall, with office staff in both the Committee Room and Council Chamber.

Since March 2020, bookings at the Town Hall have naturally reduced due to Covid-19 regulations and the temporary change in the behaviour of our hirers.  It became apparent that the 2 downstairs rooms were underused and presented an opportunity for staff to move in.  The previous offices at Emson Close were privately rented and the move results in a saving of approximately £20,000 pa in rent and rates.

Over the past few weeks, some hirers have started to return and these can still be accommodated in the Court Room. Assembly Hall or at other venues.  Wedding bookings are not affected and continue in the Town Hall (a great venue for a small, intimate wedding or civil partnership ceremony).

Rest assured, the magnificent table from the Council Chamber is still intact and is safely and securely stored off site along with the chairs.  All Council meetings are currently held online with details on our website (www.saffronwalden.gov.uk)

Access to the Town Hall and the office environment is restricted as part of our effort to reduce the spread of Coronavirus.  Initial contact is encouraged by phone (01799 516501 or email [email protected]) with face to face meetings by prior appointment only and subject to availability.  You may continue to direct general enquiries through the Tourist Information Centre on Market Square.

This is a temporary move as we clearly hope and anticipate that bookings will return to the Town Hall and the building will be full once again of the noise, chatter and laughter from our hirers and user groups.
