SWTC is the first Town or Parish Council in Uttlesford to achieve the National Association of Local Councils Foundation Award

Award winning Saffron Walden Town Council does it again!  The Town Council is thrilled and delighted to be the first Town or Parish Council in Uttlesford to achieve the National Association of Local Councils Foundation Award.

The Award is designed to recognise achievement and set a framework for continuous improvement.  It evidences that a council not only acts within good governance but also excels in community leadership, performs to a national professional standard and is up-to-date and progressive in its activities.

In his summary and evaluation of the Town Council’s application, Cllr Peter Davey, Chair of the assessing panel writes:

“Saffron Walden is clearly a proactive Town Council which is at the hub of the local community. The strong sense of community belonging is evident with an engaging and lively website with Social Media being well used with regular Blogs and Tweets.” 

He further commends the Town Council for its professional application, supported by relevant evidence and notes that the overall standard of the application was high.

A Town Council spokesperson says “The recognition for this award must to go all staff and Town Councillors; the hard work, energy and effort of all involved has enabled the Town Council to meet these exacting standards.  Having achieved the Foundation Level, we will now plan and work towards the Quality and Quality Gold Standards”
