Presentation of charity cheque by former Mayor Cllr Arthur Coote
Former Mayor Cllr Arthur Coote was delighted to present a cheque to 'Team Max' in favour of Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust in the sum of £9,218.86 which represented charity funds raised during his year as Mayor of Saffron Walden. Gemma Downham, Director of Fundraising at ACT was present to collect the cheque. Also present were Max, Jodie and India from Team Max and Mrs Elaine Coote former Mayoress.
The money raised will be used towards a new Emergency Children's Ambulance Service for Children in the East of England. Adults and new-born babies in our region who need intensive care treatment for complex conditions are blue-lighted by a dedicated, specialist ambulance service to Addenbrooke's Hospital. Surprisingly, there is no such service in our region that can specifically provide intensive care for critically ill children. This service will benefit on average 1,700 children a year.
