Fencing on the Common

Installed to allow trash screen works at the culvert

Trash Screen works

Works have finally started on the long-awaited replacement trash screen for the Culvert. This trash screen will, as the name suggests, collect the trash and rubbish before it goes underground into the town culvert.  On a regular basis, the Town Council currently clears the screen and removes all of the dirt and debris to prevent backed up flooding of the area.

In order for the safe installation of a new screen, it is necessary to close part of the Common and car park to the public allowing a safe working place for the engineers and operatives.  We sincerely apologise for any disruption caused as a result of these works and ask residents to be patient during this time.  The car park is owned and managed by UDC and permission has been granted for the temporary removal of some spaces to allow continuance of these works.  This replacement is being undertaken by Essex County Council by prior agreement with the Environment Agency.
