Our Award recognises the Town Council's community work across many services

Saffron Walden Town Council is delighted to be recipient of the Essex annual “Community Award” from Essex County Council and Essex Association of Local Councils.  The Award recognises the Town Council’s community work across many services with particular regards to:

  • Working with and supporting volunteers through a number of forums including the Tourist Information Centre and Bridge End Gardens
  • For its support afforded to local community groups such as SWI, Round Table, local theatre and dance groups, Citizens’ Advice and Uttlesford Community Transport.  Support provided is both in terms of financial support and/or practical help and guidance
  • The imminent installation of new water refill points and water fountains to discourage single-use plastic
  • Its joint partnership working with the Youth Outreach Partnership in delivering youth activities in the town
  • Help and support provided to the Royal British Legion and Carver Barracks in the Remembrance Day Parades over many years and the Armed Forces Day summer 2017
  • Working with the community in the development of the Neighbourhood Plan

Cllr Dr. Richard Freeman who received the award on behalf of the Council said “this is a very prestigious award as it recognises the hard work, dedication and commitment of our excellent staff and endorses the efforts of the Council to ensure that we work in a collaborative and supportive manner with the community”
