Closure of footpaths across The Common from 1 September to 31 December
Closure in order to facilitate works to the trash screen at the slade
The Essex County Council (Footpath 60 and Footpath 62, Saffron Walden) (Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2020
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close Footpath 60 and Footpath 62, Saffron Walden in the District of Uttlesford, as follows:
Footpath 60, Saffron Walden
From its junction with Common Hill to its junction with Footpath 59, Saffron Walden, a distance of approximately 80 metres.
Footpath 62, Saffron Walden
From its junction with Common Hill to its junction with Footpath 61, Saffron Walden, a distance of approximately 150 metres.
The closures are scheduled to commence on 01/09/2020 to 31/12/2020 or where appropriate signs are showing and weather permitting. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while works to replace the existing trash screen on the River is undertaken.
The alternative route will be via Footpath 59, Saffron Walden and Footpath 61, Saffron Walden. The public will still be able to traverse The Common while the footpaths are temporarily closed and vice versa. Access will remain open across The Common for the local community.
The Order will come into effect on 01/09/2020 and may continue in force for 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
