Free pizza for young people will be on offer at a drop in session at Jubilee Hub on Friday 26 April 2024. Saffron Walden Town Council (SWTC) and Saffron Walden Youth Outreach Project (YOP) are delighted to be offering this session as a thank you to those who took part in the recent youth consultation – although the session is open to everyone aged between 11 -16.
The consultation allowed young people to “have their say” and shape where youth funds are spent in 2024 and beyond. The results were interesting with 60% of participants being 11-12 years old. A free indoor place to meet friends, fun activities and outings were top of the list, whilst advice services on mental health, finance and banking, and careers / apprenticeships were also requested.
Drop in between 5.30pm and 7.30pm for some FREE fun activities, pizza, drinks and snacks. The winner of the youth consultation prize draw will also be presented with their £25.00 voucher from a Saffron Walden retailer of their choice at the session!
Said Mike Hibbs, Chair of Saffron Walden Youth Outreach Project, “I’m delighted that the Charity and Saffron Walden Town Council are working together to find out what facilities young people would like in the Town; too often their voice is not heard. The Youth Outreach Project has been supporting young people for 30 years, during which we have provided a Drop-in Centre, various Youth Clubs, and have carried out street based outreach work around the town. The survey has given us the opportunity to find out what young people want in 2024.”
