Saffron Hall Trust and Anglia Ruskin University warmly invite you to join the Autumn sharing event of our joint music & dementia initiative, Together in Sound on Fri 6 December at Saffron Hall. Please RSVP by Friday 29 November to rsvp@saffronhall.com or call 01799 588545.
Together in Sound music therapy groups aim to bring the power of music to those living with dementia. We focus on joint music-making and listening with a goal of supporting communication, relationships, and increasing quality of life through a collaborative group process. Saffron Hall and Cambridge Institute for Music Therapy Research at Anglia Ruskin University are pleased to be working in partnership to provide the opportunity for people living with dementia and their carers to attend a music therapy group.
The need to offer high quality support for those living with dementia has never been more important. The estimated number people living with dementia across the UK is expected to reach 1.1 million by 2030. Together in Sound aims to support improved care for those with dementia and reduce isolation for their companions. This Autumn, 50 participants from across our community are attending weekly music therapy sessions, designed to bring people affected by dementia together. As an arts charity that champions inclusive music-making for all, Saffron Hall Trust is proud to be investing in this long-term initiative in our local community.
This session will be led by music therapist Claire Flower and will celebrate the creativity of participants from across three groups, coming together to make and share music together. We are delighted to be joined by young musicians from Great Chesterford Primary Academy who have been learning about dementia, and guest musicians from London Philharmonic Orchestra’s Foyle Future First orchestral development scheme.
You are invited to join participants and other guests for cake and refreshments after the session has finished.
