Our next meeting is on Tuesday 21 May.
We are delighted to welcome Florence Rowe who will be talking to us at our meeting on 21 May. Her message to us is:
‘‘Hello breakfast club members – I am Florence, a longstanding resident of Saffron Walden. In my career I have had the pleasure of working in different industries including pharma and infection control as a health scientist, before deciding to jump ship completely and re-train at age 30 to be a clinical dietitian. Going back to being a student later wasn’t easy, but I completed a degree in Dietetics at UCL which is where I now do some part time lecturing for other newbies entering the field.
For part of my work I am at Addenbrookes, working with critically unwell patients who require liver transplantation. The other part, which is why I will be with you on the 21st, is for my role outside of the hospital in the prevention of ill health and improving quality of life. Using my knowledge of nutrition science and medicine, I have helped people identify underlying conditions and helped treat and avoid medicine where possible. This includes conditions such as pre-diabetes, high cholesterol, pancreatic and bowel disturbances. I will provide you with some nuggets of information that will (hopefully) help you or someone you know and give some food for thought!
