Breakfast Club at SW Golf Club 7.30am – 19 November 2024

19 November, 2024 @ 07:30 - 09:00

Join us for an inspiring talk by Max Shorter, Manager of Hart’s Books, as he shares his journey from a lifelong book lover to leading one of England’s oldest bookshops. Max’s early memories of Kent libraries sparked a passion that evolved into a career dedicated to fostering community through books. He’ll delve into the unique and personal experience of working in independent bookshops, where every book is chosen with care, and each reader’s visit is a valued part of the shop’s story.

Max will also share the rich history of Hart’s Books, founded in 1836, and the recent revitalization that has brought it back to the heart of Saffron Walden. In a time when many bookshops struggle to compete with online giants, Hart’s thrives as a warm, inviting space that champions discovery, personal connection, and a love of literature. Come discover how Hart’s Books has become a cornerstone of its community, inspiring readers of all ages and keeping the magic of the independent bookshop alive.

This promises to be a very interesting meeting and is certainly not one to be missed and I do hope that you will be able to join us.
