Funding for Dedicated Police Community Support Officer for Saffron Walden
Funding for Dedicated PCSO for Saffron Walden
Saffron Walden Town Council is committed to ensuring the community safety of all who live and work in Saffron Walden and are working with Uttlesford District Council to provide a dedicated PCSO for the town. There will be an agreement between 3 parties being Essex Police, Uttlesford District Council and the Town Council in which all parties agree to work collaboratively to ensure that there is a visible presence in town for this dedicated post.
The PCSO will remain an employee of Essex Police but will work across the board with all parties to ensure that Saffron Walden continues to be a safe place to live and work. The Town Council recognises the importance of the local presence, being the eyes and ears across the Town to deal with low level crime and anti-social behaviour. This is a really exciting and challenging opportunity to work collectively with partners in offering a new, dedicated service to Saffron Walden.
Town Mayor, Cllr Paul Fairhurst says “I am delighted to announce that following several months of discussion and negotiation with UDC, we have reached an agreement which will provide a dedicated PCSO service for Saffron Walden. I am confident that this post will be a small step towards making a positive difference to the town and will help to restore the confidence in our worthy police force, who work with limited and reducing resources. We look forward to working further with both Essex Police and UDC in appointing a PCSO to this post”
