Funding for Police Community Support Officer post
Saffron Walden Town Council is committed to ensuring the community safety of all who live and work in Saffron Walden and have just agreed to part fund a dedicated PCSO for Saffron Walden. The agreement is with Essex Police and UDC and all parties will work collaboratively to ensure that there is a visible presence in town for this dedicated post. The PCSO will remain an employee of Essex Police but will work across the board with all parties to ensure that Saffron Walden continues to be a safe place to live and work. The Town Council recognises the importance of the local presence, being the eyes and ears across the Town to deal with low level crime and anti-social behaviour. This is a really exciting and challenging opportunity to work collectively with partners in offering a new, dedicated service to Saffron Walden. Town Clerk, Lisa Courtney notes “following several months of discussion and negotiation with UDC, we are pleased to have reached an agreement which will provide a dedicated PCSO service for Saffron Walden. Over the next year, the Town Council will take the opportunity to review and consider the impact of this post so that it can make an informed decision on funding for future years”.
